I have contemplated for a while about writing a blog, just to put my thoughts into words. I spend long periods of time alone since my husband is a chief officer in the Merchant Navy and in the evenings I seem to have a lot of thoughts.
I have 2 beautiful children, a daughter who is 10 and a very lively young lady. She does well at school and loves swimming, guides, reading and anything sporty really.
My little boy has just had his 7th Birthday. He has dyspraxia which has effected his speech more than anything. He did not start talking until he was 4 and he is still having lots of speech therapy. He attends a school with a speech and language unit to help him. I am so very proud of the progress he is making. He has struggled with his reading, writing and maths as well as every day things such as eating, using a knife and fork and getting dressed, but every day he makes such great progress and his words the other evening reduced me to tears. He said, "Mummy, I keep trying and trying and getting better and better." I feel very blessed to have 2 such beautiful children.
My other" babies" are my 22 lovely hens, Banana, Albertina, Feathers, Cleopatra, Grommit, Star, Roberta Blue, Bluebell, Orange, Kiwi, Rocky, Roxy, Apple Crumble, Rhubarb Crumble, fern, Caramel, Willow, Custard, Rosemary, Wilma, Hillary and Wendoline. they are probably the most cheekiest and spoilt chickens ever. My son adores them and spends lots of time cuddling them. They follow us around the garden and get up to lots of mischief. My poor hubby fell off the ladder trying to rescue one from the neighbour's roof a few weeks ago. I would not be without them though and their eggs are delicous.
My husband left to join his ship just 3 days ago so it has been quiet here. I always thought it would get easier to say goodbye, but it never does. I have my children and chickens to keep me busy though and also college work as I am training to be a Teaching Assistant. I get to spend one day a week in a Primary school working with 4 and 5 year olds which I always look forward to. I am also learning to play the violin which I enjoy very much.
My husband always says I should have been born 50 years ago as he thinks I am very old fashioned and the simplest of things in life please me. Money can not buy love and happiness. My family makes me happy.
